Visitors (including parents and carers)
All visitors must enter school via the main office. All visitors must sign in immediately upon entering the school building.
Mobile Phones
All visitors are required to switch their mobile phones off upon entering the school building. Staff are only allowed to use their mobile phone in the Staff Room and must keep their phones in their locker during the school day, aside from designated break times.
Security
The school building is enclosed by a security fence. Our external doors can only be opened with an electronic fob that only school staff have.
Upon entering the door to the main office, there is no access into school as there is a door that is fob activated.
All teachers have access to a walkie-talkie which they can use to contact the Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher, Designated Safeguarding Lead or deputies and office staff.
School Gates
The school gates are unlocked at 8.45 each morning, with a member of staff being stationed on each one until the gates are locked.
We also have a member of staff at each of the pupil entrances to school. Once the external gates are locked, the doors the children entered through are also closed and these doors can only be opened with a fob.
We believe that this staff presence provides an immediate point of contact for parents and carers and allows us to safeguard our pupils from the point that they enter our school site.
Fire Drills and Lockdown Drills
We conduct a fire drill and a lockdown drill each term for all members of the school community. An annual health and safety audit is completed by Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council.
Collection from School
Pupils are only allowed to be collected from school by an approved adult. If another adult is collecting a child from school, this must be agreed with the school in advance.
Pupils in Nursery, Reception, Y1 and Y2 are handed over to an approved adult. Pupils in Y3-6 are allowed to walk home, if we have signed confirmation of this arrangement. Teachers have an end-of-day register that they tick to confirm that pupils who are collected have been handed over to an approved adult. The above information applies to after-school clubs.
We follow the Local Authority recommendation that primary age pupils may only be collected by responsible people aged 16 years and over.
Car Park Barrier
Parents/Carers are not allowed to enter the car park to drop-off or collect pupils. The following people are allowed access:
- School staff.
- Blue Badge Holders.
- Pre-arranged taxis.
- Deliveries.
Disabled Parking
For children with a disability, there is a parking space that parents or carers can access to assist their child into school safely.
Bicycles and Scooters
Footpaths should be used to reach the playgrounds. Cyclists and scooter riders must dismount on reaching the school site. If this is not adhered to, a temporary or permanent bike or scooter ban will be put in place.
Animals
Dogs, including puppies, or other animals are not allowed on the school site, except with the permission of the headteacher. We welcome trainee dogs who are learning how to support partial sighted or hearing individuals, as well as dogs from the Police and other services. Please contact school if this is a concern.
Educational Visits
Educational visits are very carefully planned by teachers, in accordance with our approved Education Visits Policy. This document can be obtained from the School Office. You will be asked for your written permission to allow your child to take part in visits and activities off the school site during the year ahead. Please return it to school promptly.
Smoking/Vaping/Alcohol
Smoking, including vaping, and the consumption of alcohol are not permitted on the school site.
